Why Do We Do That Again?

In Daily Devotional by Jordan Harnum

Theme of the Week: Serve

Bible Verse: As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11

Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 4:8-10

Have you ever done something, but are unsure why you do them? Perhaps you’ve said to yourself or others, “this is just what I have always done”.

Getting married will expose those areas of your life. I still remember those early months of marriage where it became increasingly evident that I did things a certain way, simply because that is just the way I had always done it. No thought needed.

In our Christian walk, this can easily happen and especially when it comes to volunteering our time to serve the wider church body. It’s easy to volunteer, but not truly know the “why” behind the “what”.

When you forget the why behind the what, serving can become monotonous and discouraging. After all, we from Monday to Friday, isn’t the weekend our time to relax?

Scripture tells us that each and every person is born with skills, talents and gifts. These gifts are not just parts of our personality, but also are tools that God desires to use to serve others and move His Kingdom forward.

When you understand why you serve, serving becomes much more fulfilling.

This week’s devotional will help you understand why we should serve others with our gifts, and talents. How it can transform other people’s lives and how it can even transform yours!

We encourage you to read along with us, as we study what it means to be servants of all. If you haven’t already be sure to subscribe and to share with a friend.

See ya guys!
