Better Together

In Daily Devotional, Friends, Life Issues by Paul Fraser

Theme of the Week: Don’t Go through Life Alone

Bible Verse: Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. Romans 12:9-21

Scripture Reading: Psalm 25:16-20

Right now, we live in a society that has never been more connected, yet at the same time incredibly disconnected.

Loneliness is a serious issue, and can have negative health issues not only mentally, but physically too.

Reading the scriptures, we can see that loneliness is not a new issue. In Psalm 25:16-20 we read,

“Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. Relieve the troubles of my heart and free me from my anguish. Look on my affliction and my distress and take away all my sins. See how numerous are my enemies and how fiercely they hate me! Guard my life and rescue me; do not let me be put to shame, for I take refuge in you.” NIV

How can we ensure that we do not live isolated, disconnected lives? How can we make sure that we are not feeling lonely and afflicted? By committing to doing life together.

Being a part of a Christian community, is about being together. We are stronger when we are together. We are stronger when we are connected. Even Jesus had a small community around him. Not to mention, He sent His disciples out two by two. He knew the importance of connection.

True connection takes courage, effort, grace and time. But it is so worth it.

Will you commit to community and see your life transform?
