Bible Passage: “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.” (Colossians 2:9-10 NIV)

Sometimes restlessness simply taunts us. Some men call it “wanderlust.” A desire to do something else, other, different; to continue, conquer the next challenge.
We may have built the life we aimed at—work, family, maybe even faith—and yet sometimes, something still feels thin, missing, incomplete.
So we look for more.
Achievement. Experience. Intensity. Challenge. The search takes different forms for different men, but the engine is the same:
“Surely fullness is somewhere ahead of me…” (for an interesting story of this, look up Scott-Vincent Borba).
Believers in Colossae were being told something similar. Some teachers were offering deeper wisdom, higher spiritual experiences, secret knowledge—it was compelling. It felt like an upgrade. The desperately sought adventure.
Paul’s response leaves no room for argument:
“For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness” (Colossians 2:9-10 NIV).
All fullness. Not a portion. Not the introductory level. Not a tease of something greater still hidden.
Everything that God is, concentrated in Christ.
Those in Christ have been brought to that fullness. The word Paul uses carries the sense of being filled to capacity, completed.
We all know that doesn’t mean life always feels full. Many men who are in Christ still feel an empty ache.
But there’s a difference between the ache of a man who is growing in Christ and the emptiness of a man searching in the wrong direction.
One is the hunger of someone staring at a plate of healthy food. The other is the thirst of someone drinking saltwater.
Let’s not miss the invitation. Since the fullness of God dwells in Christ, we are invited to redirect our desires. Stop gazing at the horizon, searching for something you think is missing. Instead, go deeper into what you already have.
Deeper into Scripture. Deeper into prayer. Deeper into community with other men. Deeper into Christ.
That’s the fullness we’re all looking for. It’s not “somewhere else, out there.” The fullness of God is in Christ, and it’s the fullness we need, even if we don’t know we want it.
Men often want to search wider for satisfaction. Life in Christ calls men to deeper instead.
Prayer: God, I love the thrill of new adventure, new accomplishments, and conquest. But sometimes that pursuit comes at the expense of the true fulfillment that I can only find in You. Help me go deeper with You, not spread myself wide in search of satisfaction. Amen.
