Our Sexuality Matters to God Recap

In Daily Devotional by Ray Ortlund

Theme of the Week: Our Sexuality Matters to God

Bible Verse: So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. 2 Timothy 2:22 ESV

Scripture Reading: 2 Timothy 2:21-23, 1 Corinthians 6:17-19

This week we have explored that our sexuality is something that really matters to God. In addition to revealing to the world who he is and what the kind of love he has for us, God wants to protect us from heartaches, pain and suffering. God has our best in mind, even when it comes to our sexuality. Here are some of the highlights:

Why Our Sexuality Matters to God
The gospel reveals something we never would have known. We are men and women playing out this drama of human romance over and over again because of who God is.

The Consequences of Sexual Folly
God wants to be your ally against your sins. Will you let him? Bring your sins to him and lay them at the foot of the cross. He promises to forgive you and to renew your broken life.

The Strategies of Sexual Temptation
In our modern world, studies now show that pornography rewires our brains with addictive power, taking us prisoner.1 But we can be wired back for intimacy with God and real relationships with others through God’s redeeming love.

Where to Find the Love We Long For
From head to toe, all that you are is not only for Christ but also of Christ. That includes your sexuality, married or single, because you are married—to Christ. You have been joined by grace to the Lord.
