Bigger Than You Can Imagine

Theme of the Week: Living Your Legacy

Bible Verse: He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Genesis 15:5

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11:1-40

Keeping your eye on the big picture can help us discipline our hearts and lives for the big prize of our legacy. Abraham was no different. He needed a big picture because he was discouraged that his son hadn’t come yet. God not only promised a child but told him to go outside. God challenged Abraham almost with humor. Count the stars if you can. So shall your offspring be.

Your legacy can outlive your life by a thousand years. I can’t count the stars and yet our legacy can be that impactful over generations. Maybe your legacy is simply to be a godly man, husband, servant to the church and community. That DNA of faithfulness, if it goes down your gene pool hundreds of years, can change many lives.

You and I cannot possibly comprehend what God can do with one man who believes God. You can be that man of legacy. It won’t always be easy or even clear to you what God is doing but it will be clear He is with you in it all.

Your legacy, like Abraham’s, may have ups and downs, turns and unbelievable blessings but your legacy can be reached. Remember your legacy is birthed from God into your spirit. And a relationship with him maintains this legacy. Only at the end of time can you have any real idea how much your life sacrificed to Christ can have left a tremendous legacy in time.

Take time today and thank God for what He will do with your life that will be on earth after you are gone.
