The Art of Surrender

In Daily Devotional by Jamie Ramer

Theme of the Week: The Art of Surrender

Bible Verse: ‘If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.’ Luke 9:23

Scripture Reading: Luke 9:22-27, 1 Corinthians 1:17-18

Everyone loves a good comeback story. You know, the ones where the underdog pulls through, or when the team that was down by a significant margin, somehow comes back to win.

The idea of not giving up, or not surrendering often inspires us to keep going, and to not quit. The idea of surrendering isn’t an option for many – but what if it is important if you want to follow Jesus?

This week in our devotionals we will be talking about surrendering our whole lives to Jesus and unpacking what it means.

This week, we want to ask the question, what if the way to win in our life is to let go control?

Let’s pray: Dear God, I pray I would not lead as someone who desires power and control. Rather, may I lead confidently as someone who is being led. May I know that you are in control and want the best for me. I surrender to you today. Amen.
