Godly Men Are Servants

In Daily Devotional, Life Issues, Masculinity by Paul Fraser

Theme of the Week: Godly Men Are Servants

Bible Verse: “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Philippians 2:4

Scripture Reading: Philippians 2:4-7

I remember when I suggested this idea to one of my friends who has been running events very successfully. Instead of having a leadership conference, we could have a servanthood conference.

People would come from all over the place, and we would teach them how to be servants. The keynote speakers would be great people who know how to serve well, etc.

My friend loved the idea so much that he promoted it. I wish that I could tell you that the event was a great success but it was not. The event ended up being cancelled due to the lack of registration.

I guess everyone wants to be a leader, and few would like to be a servant. What’s the reason behind this? Is it a pride issue or a need for affirmation?

I guess everyone wants to be a leader, and few would like to be a servant.

The puzzling thing is that Jesus was a servant. That should be the end of the conversation. If we are followers of Christ, He is our example, which should settle the issue in our hearts.

This week, we will talk about the characteristics of a servant. As men of God, what should we be aiming at? We will focus on six aspects:

  • Servants understand lordship
  • Servants are loyal
  • Servants are listeners
  • Servants are laborers
  • Servants are last
  • Servants are learners

Join us every day, share this with your friends, and invite them to learn what God has to say about us having the same attitude of Christ. If you have not subscribed to our daily devotional yet, sign up here to get it daily in your email.
