Honor God

Theme of the Week: Bless Your Wife

Bible Verse: “So God created Man in His own image, in the image of God He created them, male and female, He created them.” Genesis 1:27

Scripture Reading: 1 John 4: 7-12

The paradox of our marriages is that we are the same and we are different. Both of us are created in the image of God yet we are clearly different – male and female. Here’s one implication of this truth and how it can motivate us to bless our wives.

The Bible clearly says both men and women are image bearers of God. So, when we choose to marry, we must understand that we are marrying a created-in-God’s-image daughter of the Most High. This makes God our Heavenly Father-in-law, doesn’t it? I draw great motivation by picturing myself on judgment day, standing before God and thanking him for the joy and privilege of sharing life and love and parenting with His daughter and hearing His words, “Thanks for looking after my daughter; you helped her become the beautiful woman I imagined at her creation.”

If we want to hear God say that to us some day, men, let’s do everything in our power to cherish and bless the daughters of God we are married to. Receive them as God’s gifts.

Encourage and care for them and protect and provide as if they are God’s own…because they are. When we bless our wives, we honor God who is the Creator and Heavenly Father of us all.
