Is Jesus Your Reason?

In Daily Devotional by Kyvenz Amédée

Theme of the Week: How The Impossible Happened

Bible Verse: “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness.” Isaiah 9:2, CSB

Scripture Reading: Isaiah 9:1-7

Jesus said it plainly: Nothing is impossible for God.

As many like to say around this time of the year: Jesus is the reason for the season. But he is really more than that. Today might be a good time to ask yourself: Is Jesus your reason.. to live? To serve? To forgive? To hang on?

The Bible says that humanity was God’s reason to make the impossible happen. As Christ came to earth for our salvation, not only did he prove that he was willing to do whatever it took to be reconciled with a lost world, but he went as far as dying on the cross to guarantee our eternal victory. Maybe his plan sounds impossible to some, but the mere fact that we are celebrating another Christmas is an indication that he did it! Yes, it’s done, and it’s not even over yet.

All around the world, people of all walks of life, men and women, young and old, now have the best of reasons to live and to hope in a God that loved us so that he made himself vulnerable to the point of becoming human. He, who is able to understand our temptation, our struggles, and our fears, gave us the one thing we needed above everything:

“For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on his shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6, CSB)

Even if the beautiful and joyful holiday of Christmas someday becomes a thing of the past, we can rest assured that God’s incredible gift will ALWAYS be with us.
