Theme of the Week: How The Impossible Happened
Bible Verse: “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1, CSB
Scripture Reading: Romans 8:1-11
How real is Jesus to you? Have you touched him? Heard him? Seen him? If not, have you felt his presence or at least witnessed his impact in the lives of people around you? From the moment he was born, the world was blessed like never before as the light of heaven shone in the darkness of our misery.
The apostle Paul, speaking about the Greeks’ reaction to the gospel’s message, said that it was folly to them: God incarnate? Among us? Forgiveness of sin? Impossible!!
And speaking about the Jews, Paul said that it was a scandal to them: Jesus is Yahweh incarnate? The Word made flesh? Born to die for our sins? Impossible!!
Yet, millions stand today as his witnesses: born again, forgiven, having eternal life, full of peace and joy. It is not folly, nor scandalous. It’s not impossible; it is good news!! And not only that, it is a promise readily available to all who will choose to believe and receive it with an open heart. As the Bible says:
If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9, CSB)
Receiving God’s gift of his only begotten Son does not require that you have an enormous amount of faith, nor does it require that you be perfect. All it takes is a yes!
So as you take a moment to consider that Jesus is born, may he become more real than anything and anyone else you have encountered.
