Bible Passage: “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” (2 Corinthians 3:17 ESV)
Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 3:1-18 ESV
Men, we are learning about the Holy Spirit this week.
I must admit that I did not truly know the Holy Spirit until much later in my life. I grew up in a denomination where the Holy Spirit was rarely discussed. In that church, we focused on attaining salvation by strictly adhering to the Ten Commandments and becoming entangled in countless rules and church traditions.
It wasn’t until I embarked on my journey to truly find God that I discovered the Holy Spirit.
I began to understand that God offers freedom from sin, condemnation, and fear through the Holy Spirit. This gift liberates us from false beliefs and misconceptions about earning our salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9). As a result, we gain clarity about what God desires and reflect it to others.
Tomorrow, we will explore the Holy Spirit as a Person. Although this topic can be challenging, we will rely on Scripture to ensure we stay aligned with God’s truth.
Numerous biblical references refer to the Holy Spirit as a Person and part of the Holy Trinity. However, understanding this can be quite challenging if your experience with church was similar to my upbringing.
Next, we will explore the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We will examine how the Holy Spirit guides and convicts us of our sins.
The following day, we will review how we experience the Holy Spirit through His transformational power, helping us become more like Jesus.
After that, we will examine the gifts of the Holy Spirit and explore how we can utilize them to glorify God.
The next topic will be a little more challenging, as we explore praying in the Spirit.
Finally, we will wrap everything up to close off our week together.
Prayer: Father, touch every man’s heart this week as we strive to better understand the role of our marvelous Helper, the Holy Spirit. Give us the knowledge to grow in truth and Spirit. Amen.
Reflection: What do you think of when considering the Holy Spirit? How do you view Him? Why do you feel this way?
