Bible Passage: “All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.” (2 Corinthians 5:18-19)
Scripture Reading: Philippians 2:1-11
At the end of your life, what do you hope people remember about you?
Maybe they’ll remember your career, the home you built, the hobbies you enjoyed, or the goals you accomplished. Those things have value. But eventually, every possession will belong to someone else, every trophy will collect dust, and every title will be passed on.
What remains is the influence you had on people.
As we’ve walked through this week so far, we’ve discovered that peacemaking isn’t just something a man does; it’s someone he becomes. It begins with receiving the peace Jesus offers and allowing that peace to transform every part of life. Little by little, Christ shapes our hearts, our words, our relationships, and our homes until others begin to see Him in us.
That’s a legacy worth pursuing.
Paul reminds us that God has entrusted believers with “the ministry of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:18). Every day, wherever God places us, we have the opportunity to represent Christ. Sometimes that means offering forgiveness. Sometimes it means speaking truth with grace. Sometimes it means refusing to repay hurt with hurt. Other times, it simply means bringing the calm presence of Christ into a tense situation.
None of those moments may seem extraordinary.
But together, they become the story of a life that points people to Jesus.
One day, your children, your friends, your coworkers, or the people in your church may not remember every word you said. But they’ll remember how you made them feel. They’ll remember whether your life reflected the peace of Christ.
That’s a legacy no amount of success can replace.
So don’t just admire Jesus, the Prince of Peace—follow Him.
And wherever He sends you, leave behind the unmistakable fingerprints of His peace.
Prayer: Father, thank You for the peace You’ve given me through Jesus Christ and for continuing to shape me into His likeness. Help me leave behind more than accomplishments or recognition. Help me leave a legacy that points people to You. May my family, my friends, my coworkers, and everyone I encounter see the peace of Christ in the way I live, love, and lead. Use my life to draw others closer to Jesus. Amen.
Reflection: If the people closest to you described the legacy you’re leaving today, what would they say? What is something you can do this week to leave behind the peace of Christ instead of simply your own accomplishments?
