Bible Passage: “Then Queen Esther answered, ‘If I have found favor with you, Your Majesty, and if it pleases you, grant me my life—this is my petition. And spare my people—this is my request. For I and my people have been sold to be destroyed, killed and annihilated…’” (Esther 7:3-4 NIV)
Scripture Reading: Esther 7:1-10
Few things are as nice as a breath of fresh air when we finally can take one. The sense of relief that comes in a moment of resolution is wonderful.
Esther’s boldness reaches its peak in today’s verses. After days of fasting, prayer, and strategic waiting, she finally speaks—not for herself alone, but on behalf of her people.
She doesn’t accuse Haman directly at first or act impulsively. Instead, she chooses her moment with great care and delivers her words with clarity, courage, and respect.
Her request is simple, but powerful: “Grant me my life.” She’s risking everything to stand in the gap for others, using her influence not for personal gain, but for justice.
That’s the kind of man God is calling us to be—willing to step up and speak out on behalf of others, even when it’s uncomfortable or dangerous.
This is leadership: not lording power over others, but leveraging it to protect and serve.
Esther had every reason to stay silent. She lived in a palace, had access to comfort and protection, and could have hidden her identity to save herself. But she chose solidarity over safety. She aligned her fate with her people and risked everything to do what was right.
As men, we’re called to the same kind of advocacy. In our homes, workplaces, churches, and communities, there are always people who need a voice, someone to stand beside them, someone to speak truth on their behalf.
Whether we’re standing against injustice, protecting the vulnerable, or defending a friend or family member, God gives men strength not to dominate but to serve.
Too often, we shrink back from those moments. We choose silence. We fear conflict. But Esther shows us a better way: prepare with prayer, speak with wisdom, and act with courage.
Ask yourself: What voices are going unheard around you? Who is vulnerable or suffering while you stay comfortable? Courageous men don’t wait for safer circumstances—they step forward in faith, trusting God with the outcome.
You may not be standing before a king, but your influence matters. God can use your voice to bring life, freedom, and justice—if you’re willing to speak up.
Prayer: God, give me the courage to speak when others remain silent. Help me use my voice and influence to bring protection, truth, and justice. Let me stand for what is right, no matter the cost. Amen.
Reflection: Who is God calling you to speak up for, even if it costs you something?
