Take A Stand

Theme of the Week: Godly Men Are Protectors

Bible Verse: “Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the great and awe-inspiring Lord, and fight for your countrymen, your sons and daughters, your wives and homes.” Nehemiah 4:14 ESV

Scripture Reading: Nehemiah 4:1-14

Godly guys stand for something.

David took a stand for God’s honor against Goliath. Daniel took a stand against idolatry. Paul took a stand for Jesus and was willing to risk his life to do so. Nehemiah took a stand for rebuilding Jerusalem against the bullies who wanted to stop him.

When enemies surround us, we can take our stand. But we don’t have to find the strength we need within ourselves. “Remember the great and awe-inspiring Lord.” When you find it hard to take a stand, keep looking to the Lord and his power.

When we take a stand like this, everyone benefits: our fellow citizens, our sons and daughters, our wives, and our households.

I love to read stories of faithful men who took a stand. When they burned Hugh Latimer at the stake for his faith, Latimer turned to his friend who was dying with him and said, “Be of good comfort, Master Ridley, and play the man; we shall this day, by God’s grace, light such a candle in England as I trust shall never be put out.”1

Where do you need to take a stand for God?
