What is the best thing you can do with your life?
Almost everything a man does will disappear one day.
Someone has compared what will happen when we’re gone to what happens when we remove our hand from a bucket of water. The void will disappear, and nobody will know that we were even there.
Men live with a desire to make a lasting difference with our lives, and I’m convinced that there are two main ways we can do this.
One is to invest in our families.
The other is to make disciples.
Think about it. If you are a Christian man, you stand in a long line of people who passed on the faith from one generation to another. The only reason you are a Christian is because of the disciple-making process that’s been happening for millennia before you.
Paul describes this process in 2 Timothy 2:1-2. He passed on the Gospel to Timothy and instructed him to pass it on to faithful men who would pass it on to others. In one verse, Paul describes four generations of the Gospel being passed on from one group to another.
This process has been going on for thousands of years, and now it’s your turn.
The most important and life-changing thing you can do with your life is not to accumulate more money, build a successful career, or have fun, as good as all those things can be.
The most significant thing you can do with your life is to make disciples. If you do this, it will make a difference for eternity.
This week, we’re going to look at what you can do to make disciples and to make an eternal difference in the lives of others for generations to come.
Prayer: Lord, help me to focus on what matters most. Help me to glorify You by making disciples. Amen.
