Have you been dreaming about something specific to happen in your life for a long time?

Sometimes it feels as if your dream or idea is trapped in a fog that has rolled in, with no sign of the sun. On other occasions, you feel as if you are right at the doorway, eagerly waiting for the doors to swing wide open.

I know in my own life, being patient for God’s timing can be very challenging. We’re so accustomed to accessing answers or solutions within seconds. Having to wait without any clear indication really stretches our faith.

Is that not what God wants from us, though?

2 Chronicles 16:9 (CSB) says, “For the eyes of the Lord roam throughout the earth to show himself strong to those who are wholeheartedly devoted to Him.”

I must admit, sitting in the waiting room of God’s office will absolutely test any man’s faith, but we must trust God has looked over our charts and He knows exactly what is best for us.

He knows what you can and cannot handle. He knows your needs from your wants. God goes to work while we rest in Him. As the Scripture says, He is looking “for those who are wholeheartedly devoted to Him,”; you must fully trust God and believe He has a plan for your life. You can be confident and at peace as you wait.

I can remember many times as a young boy crossing Lake Erie in a friend’s boat relying on the navigation because the fog was so dense you couldn’t see land anywhere your eyes searched. We had to completely trust in the compass as our guide to direct us into the island harbour.

Many times, we ask God to be our guiding compass as we cut through the fog of uncertainty, challenges and decisions we must make. Sure, there are going to be times of anxiety, and skepticism whether you are doing the right thing, but stay the course.

Trust God that He has your best interest in mind. The fog will lift. You’ll look around and recognize He has guided you right where you’re supposed to be.

Prayer: Lord, when I can’t see where I am going and am unsure of the right way to go, I am grateful that You are always with me. You know better than I where I am going, and I ask You to take me exactly where You know is best. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Reflection: Think of a time when you were uncertain of which way to go, but God led you on the right path anyway. As you reflect on that previous time, what did it teach you about God? What did it teach you about yourself?
