God’s Silence on Saturday

In Daily Devotional by Dany Soto

Bible Passage: “It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.” (Lamentations 3:26 NIV)

Scripture Reading: Matthew 27:57-66; Psalm 130:1-8; Romans 8:24-25

We tend to skip over the Saturday of Passion Week, focusing on all the pain of Good Friday and the joy of Resurrection Sunday.

But Holy Saturday is a very solemn and weighty day. It feels heavy. The tomb is sealed, hope appears buried, and silence fills the space where miracles once unfolded.

For many men, this day mirrors seasons of waiting when God seems distant or quiet. A moment when we are seemingly alone and must wrestle against the onslaught of thoughts that rush our minds and challenge our hearts.

The disciples wrestled with confusion, feelings of emptiness, and intense grief. Their expectations have collapsed, and their vitality is gone.

Yet God is still at work beneath the surface.

Redemption often unfolds in hidden places before it becomes visible. Our inability to see God at work is never proof that He isn’t working all things together for His glory and for our good.

Waiting is one of the hardest disciplines for a man. We who want to fix problems quickly, we who race to resolve matters. We struggle with silence, with waiting.

Holy Saturday teaches trust when answers are delayed.

Faith grows not only in moments of victory but also in seasons of stillness. Even under a blanket of snow, the grass continues to grow, and in its time it will always burst forth and rise to the surface.

The sealed tomb does not mean God has failed. It reveals that His timing operates beyond human understanding. Men who follow Christ must learn endurance, patience, and trust, choosing hope even when circumstances feel uncertain.

Silence invites reflection. What does it look like to remain faithful when prayers feel unanswered? Holy Saturday reminds us that God’s purposes continue even when we cannot see them.

Saturday prepares the heart for resurrection. Waiting becomes a form of worship when men surrender control and trust the promises of God.

Prayer: Lord, teach me to trust You in the silence. Strengthen my faith when I cannot see what You are doing. Amen.

Reflection: Where is God asking you to trust Him patiently instead of demanding immediate results?
