Ambassadors of Grace

In Daily Devotional by Paul Jolicoeur

Theme of the Week: Grace

Bible Verse: We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:20 NIV

Scripture Reading: Ephesians 1:15-23

Is there someone in your life that tests your patience? Maybe your children? Spouse? Co-worker? Neighbor?

Those people are just as imperfect as you are. Jesus died for them, and they are also not out of reach of his love and grace. Keep in mind, you’re probably on someone else’s list too!

Many people around us need to know the love of Jesus and one of the best ways we can do that is by showing them grace. The same grace that was and is being offered to us. Once we understand the grace that God has shown to us, despite the offense that our sins were to Him, we can, and should, extend grace in response to the minor glitches and hiccups we encounter in our relationships with others.

2 Corinthians 5:20 is a part of the job description for Jesus’ followers. We are called to be an ambassador of Christ.

What does an ambassador do?

They are the representation of who or what they are the ambassador of.

They must be involved in foreign nations by building relationships (like aliens living in a foreign place, waiting for a new kingdom to come!).

“Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls.” 1 Peter 2:11 NLT

You, as a Christ follower, are His ambassador.

Prayer: Jesus, help me to show grace to those I interact with today. Help me represent you well here are earth. May your kingdom come, and may your will be done, through me, here on earth as it is in heaven.

Reflection: Who will you interact with today that needs more grace? Go out of your way to bring them the love of Jesus. The same love that was given to you.
