Theme of the Week: All Things New: New Perspectives
Bible Verse: “Don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, or you were bought at a price. So glorify God with your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 6:12-20
We sold our house a few years ago. The new owners had bought the place and would soon move in. Although the deal hadn’t closed yet, I no longer had the right to do what I wanted with the property.
According to the Apostle Paul, we’ve been purchased for God through the death of Christ. Since we’re under new ownership, we’re no longer free to do whatever we want. We now live Jesus’ life, for him, to do whatever he wants. We’re under new ownership.
What amazes me about this truth is the purchase price: the death of Christ. If Christ paid so much for us, then how could we ever decide to live our own way?
You are here for God’s glory. He cares about every detail of your life, including your family, your work, and more. You no longer live for your own comfort or safety. You live for God’s glory, even if that involves sometimes taking risks.
We can live this way because we no longer belong to ourselves. God owns us. He gets the final say over how we live. We have the privilege of living our lives for his glory.
