Climbing the Mountain of Manhood

In Daily Devotional, Life Issues, Masculinity by Mauricio Rosa

Theme of the Week: Climbing the Mountain of Manhood

Bible Verse: “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.” 1 Corinthians 16:13

Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 31:1-8

I grew up in a Christian home. Christianity is what I’ve always known. I cannot remember a time when knowing God and knowing Jesus was not part of my life. However, it took me 30 years to learn to be a man. I still carry the bruises and scars to prove it.

In my life, becoming a man felt like a weekend hike in the Rockies. Like the ones, you think you are prepared physically, mentally and spiritually to embark. It would also include thinking you have the path figured out as a gradual, long and gentle slope. In reality, it has been the complete opposite. It has been a steep, rough and dangerous path.

I have experienced some landslides that threatened my life, some caves to pass the nights, but I have also seen the most beautiful sunrises from the top and sunsets before beautiful lakes in my life.

As memorable as this sounds, the best part of this journey has been I was never alone. My heartfelt it, my mind knew it, and God’s promise have been tangible.

Brothers, God has made us male, and He wants to forge us into godly men. The assurance of this journey is His promise to go ahead of us. He does not promise an easy and safe journey, but a sure one that He will be with us.

This week, Jim Ramos will share with us from his book Strong Men Dangerous Times: Five Essentials Every Man Must Possess to Change His World, that the journey to manhood is like climbing a mountain. He will share with us the 5 essentials to godly manhood:

  • Godly men protect integrity
  • Godly men fight against apathy
  • Godly men pursue God passionately
  • Godly men lead courageously
  • Godly men finish well

Join us this week, and come to be challenged and encouraged to embark on this challenging, but rewarding journey, as you get to also experience the sweet presence of the Spirit of God.
