Theme of the Week: Salvation

Bible Verse: “My soul, bless the LORD, and do not forget all his benefits.” Psalm 103:2

Scripture Reading: Psalm 103:1-19

Whenever I visit someone who lives by the Rocky Mountains, I ask, “Do you ever get used to the beauty?” I get different answers, but I know what we’re like. We get used to things that should never stop amazing us.

It’s like that with salvation. God has given us so much. He’s made us completely new. He’s forgiven us. He’s delivered us from the power of sin. He’s adopted us. He’s made us his heirs. And that’s just a start. There’s so much more that happens in salvation.

And yet we often forget how amazing this is. Sometimes we even think it’s boring. We should ask God to help us never take all the blessings of salvation for granted.

The best response to what God has done for us is simple: worship. When we realize what God has done for us, we will be ready to bow down before him in adoration. He’s held nothing back. He’s blessed us far more than we deserve. How could we do anything but worship him in response?

What a great God. What a great Savior. What a great salvation.

Prayer: Lord, help me never forget all the blessings you’ve given me in my salvation. Please give me a grateful heart. Help me never lose my wonder. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection: Why are we so quick to take the blessings of salvation for granted?
