Recap: Recharging Your Heart Through Prayer

Theme of the Week: Recharging Your Heart Through Prayer

Bible Verse: And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.” 1 John 5:15 ESV

Scripture Reading: 1 John 5:15

This week we have looked at how prayer shapes our faith and our relationship with God. Here are some of the highlights of this week:

A Prayer About Resetting My Heart on Jesus
No one and nothing else is worthy of my heart’s adoration, affection, and allegiance—only you, though good things and bad things claim otherwise. I set my heart on you today, Jesus, as my ultimate good.

A Prayer in Praise of God Who Knows Our Hearts
Sometimes we think of ourselves much more highly than we ought—so wanting to believe we’re more like Jesus than reality affirms. Sometimes we fall into shame and contempt and act like strangers to your mercy and grace, like orphans without a Father above or your Spirit within. Sometimes we just think about ourselves too much, period.

A Prayer About Jesus’ Shameless Love for Us
When I hear you tell me that you’re not ashamed of me—that you’re not ashamed to call me your brother—it humbles and gladdens me like nothing else.

A Prayer for Bringing Our Broken Friends to Jesus
All I know to do is bring these dear ones to you in prayer, much like those who brought their paralyzed friend to you on a pallet. I know you are merciful, and I know you are mighty. Only you know what’s going on in each of them.

As you reflect on these truths today, thank God for his love for you as you are today, rest in his forgiveness and grace, and be a blessing to your family and friends who need to receive this love from Jesus that you have received.
