Rest: Recharging Your Soul

In Daily Devotional, Life Issues by Paul Fraser

Theme of the Week: Spiritual Reset & Renewal

Bible Verse: I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save. Isaiah 46:4b ESV

Scripture Reading: Isaiah 46: 1-13

Are you feeling drained?

This pandemic has been very difficult and draining not only physically but mentally, emotionally and even spiritually.

This week we want to talk about recharging your soul. We briefly focus on what the Sabbath is in Genesis, calling it a reference for rest. We need times to stop working, settle down with God, quiet our hearts and let him speak. God desires to spend time with us. How incredible is that!

Then we focus the rest of the week on what helps us recharge our soul and the reality that God wants to have a relationship with us.

How many of you are weary? How many of you are burdened? How many of you are tired? The answer is quite simple: Come to Jesus! You will find rest for your souls!

Doing things on our own strength doesn’t always work. We need regular reliance on God in our everyday living to recharge our souls. We all need to take a moment to take our focus off of the tasks in front of us and focus on him.

We also recharge our soul by identifying what’s causing the drain in our soul. Be reminded today that sin is a draw on our soul and that repenting (turning away) from sin keeps the right connection with God strong.

Lastly, we will talk about right routines. Recharging our soul must have right routines and rhythms. How do we do that? We don’t need to look any further than what Jesus modelled for us. Want to stay fully charged? Stay fully connected!

Join us this week as we journey together, exploring some of the ways that are important to recharge our souls. If you have not subscribed to our daily devotionals, you can do so here. Share this devotional with your friends too.
