The Power of Contentment and Gratitude

In Daily Devotional by Paul Fraser

Theme of the Week: Living Victoriously

Bible Verse: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Scripture Reading: Philippians 4:4-7

There are so many things we could have addressed this week, but I hope that what I have covered has been helpful. The last thing I want to remind you of is the power of contentment and gratitude as it relates to victorious living.

Contentment and gratitude are the best defense to the enemy’s weapons of jealousy, envy, and comparison. These weapons of the enemy have been around for hundreds of years and still find success with men, so we must be always on guard.

Contentment and gratitude also help us to see the good in every situation, even in times of suffering or loss. They foster humility, as we recognize that all good things come from God and that we are not self-sufficient. When we acknowledge our dependence on God and express gratitude for His blessings, we grow in faith and trust in Him.

Let’s quickly review our devotionals this week:

The Source of our Victory is Jesus.
The Power of Prayer is in our connection and consistency.
The Power of Community is in our relationship with others.
The Power of Forgiveness gives us freedom.
The Power of Faith is in our trust.
The Power of a Renewed Mind protects our future.
The Power of Contentment and Gratitude keeps us humble and dependent.

Prayer: Thank you, Jesus! You are so good to me! Help me to live victoriously in you and for you!

Reflection: Take a few moments to thank God for His goodness and generosity towards us. He gives us everything we need to live victoriously for Him!
