Theme of the Week: Let’s Begin! Wisdom that Works

Scripture Reading: James 1:5-6
Every test or quiz I took back at school, the words of James would echo in my ears. My grandpa would often remind me that verse, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” James 1:5 ESV.
God’s Wisdom is the blessing from God to help us apply knowledge. God wants us to know His Wisdom to use it and have the great ability to handle life instead of being ridiculed. Wisdom enables you to make wise decisions that are beneficial for you and others.
Late theologian J.I. Packer, in his masterpiece book “Knowing God,” says: “Wisdom is the power to see and the inclination to choose the best and highest goal, together with the surest means of attaining it.”1
God is eager to give His Wisdom to us; James says that He “gives generously.” How great to know that God is not only all-knowing but generous to give us His Wisdom for life! God created us, He knows what works best for us.
This week, we will focus on the theme of “Wisdom that works,” based on the book of Proverbs. We will discuss the nature of God’s Wisdom, how we can grow in it, how wisdom actually helps us, whether in circumstances of plenty or of pain. Ultimately, the bible tells us that wisdom is not a concept; it is a person – Jesus Christ.
