You Are Blessed

In Daily Devotional by Kyvenz Amédée

Theme of the Week: Why Did God Create Me?

Bible Verse: “And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:28, ESV

Scripture Reading: Matthew 6:1-14

How do you feel today? Good, bad, in between? How about blessed? Do you feel blessed today? Blessed is what the Bible says you are. In the beginning, when God created the first humans, the very first thing he did was to bless them… It was sort of like their birthday present.

If the word blessed is not yet one that you use to describe yourself, perhaps you could start using it right now. Men tend to describe who or what they are based on their accomplishments or failures. When we fail, words like incompetent, inadequate, unqualified or unworthy come to mind. And when we succeed, words like capable, worthy, leader, hero inspire our vocabulary.

Those qualifiers are all based on our experiences of things we did or tried to do. But it’s different with the word blessed because God used it on Adam and Eve even before they did or tried to do anything. Blessed is what they were before they started their life journey, and blessed is what YOU are before you started yours. Even before you went through anything, good or bad.

What is particularly interesting is that we often ask God to bless us when we are going through something difficult or when we feel that we are not up to a task. But God wants to remind you today that you are not just a man going through something: you are a BLESSED man going through something.

So, engage life and show yourself to the world with a new perspective!
