Theme of the Week: Why Did God Create Me?
Bible Verse: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5, ESV
Scripture Reading: Philippians 1:19-30
No one is born with the knowledge and understanding of what they’re supposed to be in life. As we grow up, we learn about life and try to make something of ourselves, hoping that we’ll have visible success, whatever “success” looks like to us, or our peers.
But did you know that before you were even born, God knew you? He didn’t just have an idea of you, he actually knew exactly everything about you! Not only that, he also had plans and a mission for you! That’s right, you are called!
Jeremiah had an encounter with God that most of us would kill for (not literally). We would love for our path to be as clear as his. It would save us so much time and energy: where to attend school, what to major in, which job offer to accept, what kind of business to start… Lord, would you please tell us already!! As humans, we have a need to know the things that pertain to our future as we want to live a life that is worth living.
You are not different from Jeremiah. Just like your Heavenly Father called him, he called you too. You may not be called to be a prophet to the nations (unless you actually are), but before he formed you in the womb, he knew you, and before you were born… May the Holy Spirit complete this sentence in your heart as you read these lines.
As you take the time to pray today, may your spirit cry out to God for an encounter that will satisfy your thirst to know him more and to understand what he has consecrated you for.
