Hope for the Disconnected

In Daily Devotional, Mental Health by Dean Brenton

Theme of the Week: Abiding in Christ

Bible Verse: No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. 1 John 4:12-13 NKJV

Scripture Reading: 1 John 4:1-21

A number of popular pandemic words have emerged over these long months: pivot, zoom fatigue, new normal, unprecedented, and the list goes on and on. One I have heard often describes the pain and cry of many people: disconnection. And it has a deeper meaning than dropping your internet connection or cell phone call. It’s the anguish of the human experience of disconnection from activities, friends, church, family, even God. Have you felt disconnected in this season? You’re not alone. But there is hope for the disconnected.

In John 15, Jesus speaks to the challenge of disconnection and offers us a solution in a one-word answer: ABIDE. To live a full and fruitful life, we need to press into our walk with Jesus and have his life press into ours. We need to ABIDE in him, i.e. stay continually connected. This week we are going to explore some keys to abiding from the very words of Jesus. Watch this video as we explore what it means to ABIDE.
