The Strongest Man

In Daily Devotional by Darryl Dash

Theme of the Week: Godly Men Are Protectors

Bible Verse: “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her.” Ephesians 5:25 ESV

Scripture Reading: Ephesians 5:22-33

Want an example of strength? Look at Jesus.

Nothing is tougher than staring death in the face and not flinching. Jesus could have decimated those who killed him, but he had a higher purpose: to give his life for his bride. Paul tells us to follow this example.

The job of every godly husband is to love his wife. The example of love that Paul offers us is more than a mushy card; it’s to continually serve and care for our wives’ entire wellbeing. How far should we be prepared to go to serve our wives? As far as Jesus did. We should be prepared to lay down our lives to serve our wives.

Godly men are like Jesus. They’re strong, but they don’t use their strength for their own advantage. They use their strength to care for, serve, protect, and nourish their wives. This means caring for our wives in every area possible by sacrificing ourselves in service. That’s what strength and protection looks like in real life.

The strongest men look at the cost of loving their wives well, and then they look at what Jesus did for his church, and they say, “Game on. Let’s do it.”

How can your love and protection of your wife mirror Jesus’ love and protection for the church?
