Servants Are Learners

Theme of the Week: Godly Men Are Servants

Bible Verse: : “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:29

Scripture Reading: Matthew 11:29

I trust this week you have learned a little more about what it means for godly men to be servants. To conclude this week of devotionals, the theme of today’s devotional, is Servants are Learners. So, to really engage the saying “repetition is the mother of all learning” let me recap the week of devotionals for you as we reinforce the learning that we received this week.

Servants Understand Lordship
Jesus was clear about what He thought about when it came to serving. He should have been the One being served, yet He clearly taught that He was here to serve, not to be served. Jesus lays out a clear path forward for us as men, that we better position ourselves as servants unless we are greater than our Lord. He must be our example.

Servants Are Loyal
Godly servants are loyal. Not perfect by any standard – but loyal. Loyalty is such a powerful characteristic, especially when you have it in a relationship. It strengthens the relationship every time.

Servants Are Listeners
God speaks to us through His Spirit and wants to guide us into all truth. To be obedient to God as godly servants, we must first hear His directions. We must be open to hearing God’s voice through prayer, worship times, the Scriptures, and sometimes through others speaking to us.

Servants Are Laborers
Our proper perspective is that in whatever we do, we see it as working for the Lord. Because Jesus is your Lord, you do it for Him.

Servants Are Last
Do you have entitlement in your heart? Do you feel like God owes you? Jesus wanted to make sure that we have right thinking around the fact God doesn’t owe us anything.

Thanks so much for engaging this week! I trust it was a blessing for you!
