Meat Your New Thermometer

meater.com and Amazon
Meater is a meat thermometer for the 21st century. Each Meater probe has wireless tech embedded inside that broadcasts the internal and external temperature of whatever you cook. A smartphone app displays the temperature readings and suggestions for how long to cook to get perfect results.

You can buy Meater probes individually or get the Meater Block set. It comes with four probes, number tags, and a connected display that shows the temperatures reported by each probe. You can use the Meater Block even if you don’t have a smartphone.

Each probe is made of food-grade stainless steel and heat-resistant ceramic. Dual temperature sensors can monitor internal meat temperature up to 100C and ambient temperature up to 275C simultaneously.

Each Meater probe sells for $119. The Meater Block, which includes four probes and the wireless display sells for $429.

Ford F-150 Lightning

Ford.ca
The Ford Motor Company no longer makes dozens of different cars. Their focus – no pun intended – is on their most popular and profitable lines: the Mustang sports car and the Ford F-150 pickup truck.

Ford made a splash in 2020 when they introduced the Mach-E Mustang, an electric crossover with rear-wheel and all-wheel drive. This year they topped that news with the announcement of a new electric version of their F-150 pickup.

The F-150 Lightning is a powerhouse. It promises 563 horsepower and 775 lb.-ft. of torque‚ the most torque of any F-150 ever made. A new frame made with stronger steel will support a maximum 2,000-pound payload and up to 10,000-pound towing capacity.

This new F-150 will be Lightning-fast as well. Ford claims it will go from 0-60 in just over 4 seconds. The onboard batteries have a range of 230 miles or 300 miles with the optional second battery.

Gas stations aren’t going away any time soon, but this announcement makes it clear that American automakers are serious about electric vehicles. The F-150 Lightning is scheduled to arrive in the spring of 2022. Sale price will start at $40,000 USD.
