Theme of the Week: Change Beyond Resolutions

Bible Verse: “We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at, the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18

Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 3:7-18

How do we begin to change? It all begins with watching.

In 2 Corinthians 3:18, Paul says that we’re transformed as we look at the glory of the Lord. What a profound insight.

Paul is telling us to look — really look — at Jesus. Think about what he’s done for us. Really let it sink in. Ask God to help you turn away from all the small things that usually occupy our minds and to really see Jesus for who he is. Ask him for a glimpse of his glory. It will change you.

Practically speaking, how do we look at the glory of the Lord? It involves things like going to church, showing up hungry for God’s Word, reading the Bible ourselves, and praying. It involves taking the Lord’s Supper. As we do these things, ask God to show you more of Jesus. We change as Jesus gets bigger in our lives and as other things get smaller.

This transformation won’t happen overnight, but it will happen. Keep looking at Jesus. Keep your life centered on him. Keeping him in view will change you more than a thousand resolutions.
