Life is a Wheel, Not a Pyramid

Theme of the Week: The Heart

Bible Verse: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.” Mark 12:30 ESV

Scripture Reading: Mark 12:28-34

As men, we should appreciate Jesus’ approach to life: He doesn’t beat around the bush; instead, he tells it like it is. In this passage, Jesus clearly defines what the Christian life is. To live for Jesus is to approach life more like a wheel than a pyramid of priorities.

In one of those instances, one of the religious leaders came up to him and asked him what the greatest command was.

Without hesitation, Jesus got straight to the point, “love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.” Mark 12:30 ESV

What Jesus is saying here is that everything we are called to be and do as Christians should be anchored around loving God with all our hearts, soul, mind and strength.

As men, we love to create lists. We can read this passage and assume God needs to be at the top of that list. However, most men love to check things off their list and move on. This verse isn’t suggesting we check God off our list and move on with our day.

Maybe there is another way to look at this; instead of a hierarchy of priorities, we should look at life as a wheel.

Jesus is supposed to be the center of our wheel, our hub, and everything is to be anchored around the idea of what it would look like to show how much I love God right now.

Join us this week as we dive into how we can make God the center of our wheel as we love Him with all our heart.
